A collection of various engine gaskets and seals, including a prominent red circular seal, arranged on a white surface, conveying a mechanical theme.

Our team at Al Willeford Chevrolet strives to keep our Portland, TX customers well-informed about ways they can maintain the condition of the cars. Your gaskets are important because they hold at least two surfaces together to prevent gases and fluids from leaking, and they can withstand extreme temperatures. Your gaskets should eventually be replaced. If you fail to replace a deteriorating gasket, it could lead to damage that is expensive to repair.

Gaskets are made with a variety of materials. The most common material is multi-level steel, but gaskets can also be copper or rubber. Head gaskets are the most common type of gasket. Other gaskets include intake manifold gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, and bearing gaskets.

To keep your vehicle running smoothly, have your gaskets repaired as soon as you notice gasket failure. If you notice gurgling, foaming, or bubbling coming from around the radiator, then high compression levels could have caused holes to form in some of the gaskets.
